⁶ Then Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, his livestock, all his beasts, and all his property that he had acquired in the land of Canaan. He went into a land away from his brother Jacob.

³ And Jacob sent^[a] messengers before him to Esau his brother in the land of ^(A)Seir, the country of Edom,

¹³ cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.^[a]

⁴ May he give ^(A)the blessing of Abraham to you and to your offspring with you, that you may take possession of ^(B)the land of your sojournings that God gave to Abraham!”

²³ And the Lord said to her,

⁸ And ^(A)I will give to you and to your offspring after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, and ^(B)I will be their God.”

¹¹ So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other.
