⁷ And the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it; and the men were grieved and very angry, because he ^(A)had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob’s daughter, ^(B)a thing which ought not to be done.

⁶ So ^(A)I took hold of my concubine, cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the territory of the inheritance of Israel, because they ^(B)committed lewdness and outrage in Israel.

^15 (A)Then it shall be that he who is taken with the accursed thing shall be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has ^(B)transgressed^[a] the covenant of the Lord, and because he ^(C)has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.’ ”

²¹ then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with ^(A)stones, because she has ^(B)done a disgraceful thing in Israel, to play the harlot in her father’s house. ^(C)So you shall ^[a]put away the evil from among you.

^4 (A)Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; ^(B)but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

⁹ And Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, “What have you done to us? How have I ^[a]offended you, ^(A)that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me ^(B)that ought not to be done.”

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of ^(A)darkness into His marvelous light;

¹⁰ Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

¹³ And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.

^5 (A)Therefore put to death ^(B)your members which are on the earth: ^(C)fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, ^(D)which is idolatry.
