²⁸ They took their sheep, their oxen, and their donkeys, what was in the city and what was in the field,

¹⁵ when the ^[a]Sabeans ^[b]raided them and took them away—indeed they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

¹⁶ While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and ^[c]consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

¹⁷ then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’

¹⁸ “And you shall remember the Lord your God, ^(A)for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, ^(B)that He may ^[a]establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

¹⁷ Now therefore, ^(A)kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known a man intimately.
