²⁸ They took their flocks and their herds, their donkeys, and whatever was in the city and in the field.

¹⁵ and ^(A)the Sabeans fell upon them and took them and struck down the servants^[a] with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” ¹⁶ While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, ^(B)“The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

¹⁷ Beware ^(A)lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ ¹⁸ You shall remember the Lord your God, for ^(B)it is he who gives you power to get wealth, ^(C)that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

¹⁷ Now therefore, ^(A)kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him.
