¹³ But Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are weak, and the flocks and herds which are nursing are with me. And if the men should drive them hard one day, all the flock will die.

¹⁵ I will feed My flock, and I will make them lie down,” says the Lord God. ^16 (A)“I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick; but I will destroy ^(B)the fat and the strong, and feed them ^(C)in judgment.”

Jesus Restores Peter

¹⁵ So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of ^[a]Jonah, do you love Me more than these?”

He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I ^[b]love You.”

He said to him, ^(A)“Feed My lambs.”

¹⁶ He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of ^[c]Jonah, do you love Me?”

He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I ^[d]love You.”

^(B)He said to him, “Tend My ^(C)sheep.”

¹⁷ He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of ^[e]Jonah, do you ^[f]love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?”

And he said to Him, “Lord, ^(D)You know all things; You know that I love You.”

Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.

²³ I will establish one ^(A)shepherd over them, and he shall feed them—^(B)My servant David. He shall feed them and be their shepherd. ²⁴ And ^(C)I, the Lord, will be their God, and My servant David ^(D)a prince among them; I, the Lord, have spoken.

^25 (E)“I will make a covenant of peace with them, and ^(F)cause wild beasts to cease from the land; and they ^(G)will dwell safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods.

⁵ Now David said, ^(A)“Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death.
