³⁰ So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel,^[a] saying, “For ^(A)I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

⁸ With him I speak ^(A)mouth to mouth, clearly, and not in ^(B)riddles, and he beholds ^(C)the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”

¹⁰ and they ^(A)saw the God of Israel. There was under his feet as it were a pavement of ^(B)sapphire stone, like the very heaven for clearness. ¹¹ And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ^(C)ate and drank.

¹³ So she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, “You are a God of seeing,”^[a] for she said, ^(A)“Truly here I have seen him who looks after me.”^[b]

⁵ And I said: “Woe is me! ^(A)For I am lost; ^(B)for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the ^(C)King, the Lord of hosts!”

²⁴ And you said, ‘Behold, the Lord our God has shown us his glory and ^(A)greatness, and ^(B)we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire. This day we have seen God speak with man, and man ^(C)still live.

^18 (A)No one has ever seen God; ^(B)the only God,^[a] who is at the Father's side,^{[b] (C)}he has made him known.

¹⁹ And he said, ^(A)“I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’ And ^(B)I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. ²⁰ But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for ^(C)man shall not see me and live.” ²¹ And the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock, ²² and while my glory passes by I will put you in a ^(D)cleft of the rock, and I will ^(E)cover you with my hand until I have passed by. ²³ Then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall ^(F)not be seen.”

²⁷ By faith he ^(A)left Egypt, ^(B)not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured ^(C)as seeing him who is invisible.
