² When Jacob saw them, he said, “This is God’s ^(A)camp.” And he called the name of that place ^[a]Mahanaim.

Ishbosheth Made King of Israel

⁸ But ^(A)Abner the son of Ner, commander of Saul’s army, took ^[a]Ishbosheth the son of Saul and brought him over to ^(B)Mahanaim;

³⁸ and from the tribe of Gad, ^(A)Ramoth in Gilead with its common-land (a city of refuge for the slayer), Mahanaim with its common-land,

¹⁴ So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.”

And Joshua ^(A)fell on his face to the earth and ^(B)worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?”

^13 (A)And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

⁸ “And see, you have with you ^(A)Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite from Bahurim, who cursed me with a malicious curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim. But ^(B)he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and ^(C)I swore to him by the Lord, saying, ‘I will not put you to death with the sword.’

²⁴ Then David went to ^(A)Mahanaim. And Absalom crossed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.

²⁰ Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? And now I must return to fight ^(A)with the prince of Persia; and when I have gone forth, indeed the prince of Greece will come.
