⁶ And ^(A)you know that with all my might I have served your father.

²⁹ So Jacob said to him, ^(A)“You know how I have served you and how your livestock has been with me.

⁹ Exhort ^(A)bondservants to be obedient to their own masters, to be well pleasing in all things, not answering back, ¹⁰ not ^[a]pilfering, but showing all good ^[b]fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.

^22 (A)Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. ^23 (B)And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, ^24 (C)knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; ^(D)for^[a] you serve the Lord Christ. ²⁵ But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and ^(E)there is no partiality.

Bondservants and Masters

^5 (A)Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, ^(B)with fear and trembling, ^(C)in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; ^6 (D)not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, ⁷ with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, ^8 (E)knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.

³⁸ These twenty years I have been with you; your ewes and your female goats have not miscarried their young, and I have not eaten the rams of your flock. ^39 (A)That which was torn by beasts I did not bring to you; I bore the loss of it. ^(B)You required it from my hand, whether stolen by day or stolen by night. ⁴⁰ There I was! In the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night, and my sleep departed from my eyes. ⁴¹ Thus I have been in your house twenty years; I ^(C)served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flock, and ^(D)you have changed my wages ten times. ^42 (E)Unless the God of my father, the God of Abraham and ^(F)the Fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. ^(G)God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and ^(H)rebuked you last night.”

Submission to Masters^(A)

^18 (B)Servants, be submissive to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh.
