⁵³ The God of Abraham, the God of Nahor, and the God of their father ^(A)judge between us.” And Jacob ^(B)swore by ^(C)the ^[a]Fear of his father Isaac.

^42 (A)Unless the God of my father, the God of Abraham and ^(B)the Fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. ^(C)God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and ^(D)rebuked you last night.”

⁵ Then Sarai said to Abram, ^[a]“My wrong be upon you! I gave my maid into your embrace; and when she saw that she had conceived, I became despised in her eyes. ^(A)The Lord judge between you and me.”

² And Joshua said to all the people, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ^(A)‘Your fathers, including Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor, dwelt on the other side of ^[a]the River in old times; and ^(B)they served other gods.

⁶ Moreover He said, ^(A)“I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for ^(B)he was afraid to look upon God.

²⁴ Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot ^(A)Terah. ²⁵ After he begot Terah, Nahor lived one hundred and nineteen years, and begot sons and daughters.

²⁶ Now Terah lived seventy years, and ^(B)begot ^[a]Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

Terah’s Descendants

²⁷ This is the genealogy of Terah: Terah begot ^(C)Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran begot Lot. ²⁸ And Haran died before his father Terah in his native land, in Ur of the Chaldeans. ²⁹ Then Abram and Nahor took wives: the name of Abram’s wife was ^(D)Sarai,^[b] and the name of Nahor’s wife, ^(E)Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah.

¹³ You shall ^(A)fear the Lord your God and serve Him, and ^(B)shall take oaths in His name.

^13 (A)And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: ^(B)“I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; ^(C)the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants.

²⁸ But they said, “We have certainly seen that the Lord ^(A)is with you. So we said, ‘Let there now be an oath between us, between you and us; and let us make a ^[a]covenant with you, ²⁹ that you will do us no harm, since we have not touched you, and since we have done nothing to you but good and have sent you away in peace. ^(B)You are now the blessed of the Lord.’ ”

^30 (C)So he made them a feast, and they ate and drank. ³¹ Then they arose early in the morning and ^(D)swore an oath with one another; and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.
