⁵³ The God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us.” So Jacob swore by the ^(A)Fear of his father Isaac,

^42 (A)If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the ^(B)Fear of Isaac, had not been on my side, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. ^(C)God saw my affliction and the labor of my hands and ^(D)rebuked you last night.”

⁵ And Sarai said to Abram, “May the wrong done to me be on you! I gave my servant to your embrace, and when she saw that she had conceived, she looked on me with contempt. May ^(A)the Lord judge between you and me!”

² And Joshua said to all the people, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Long ago, ^(A)your fathers lived beyond the Euphrates,^[a] Terah, the father of Abraham and of Nahor; and ^(B)they served other gods.

⁶ And he said, ^(A)“I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for ^(B)he was afraid to look at God.

²⁴ When ^(A)Nahor had lived 29 years, he fathered Terah. ²⁵ And Nahor lived after he fathered Terah 119 years and had other sons and daughters.

²⁶ When ^(B)Terah had lived 70 years, he fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

Terah's Descendants

²⁷ Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran fathered Lot. ²⁸ Haran died in the presence of his father Terah in the land of his kindred, in Ur of the Chaldeans. ²⁹ And Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram's wife was ^(C)Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife, ^(D)Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and Iscah.

¹³ It is ^(A)the Lord your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and ^(B)by his name you shall swear.

¹³ And behold, ^(A)the Lord stood above it^[a] and said, ^(B)“I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. ^(C)The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring.

²⁸ They said, “We see plainly that the Lord has been with you. So we said, let there be a sworn pact between us, between you and us, and let us make a covenant with you, ²⁹ that you will do us no harm, just as we have not touched you and have done to you nothing but good and have sent you away in peace. ^(A)You are now the blessed of the Lord.” ³⁰ So he made them a feast, and they ate and drank. ³¹ In the morning they rose early and ^(B)exchanged oaths. And Isaac sent them on their way, and they departed from him in peace.
