²⁸ You didn’t even let me kiss my grandchildren and my daughters goodbye.^(A) You have done a foolish thing.

⁵⁵ Early the next morning Laban kissed his grandchildren and his daughters^(A) and blessed^(B) them. Then he left and returned home.^[a](C)

³⁷ They all wept as they embraced him and kissed him.^(A)

²⁰ Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. “Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye,”^(A) he said, “and then I will come with you.”

“Go back,” Elijah replied. “What have I done to you?”

¹⁴ At this they wept^(A) aloud again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law^(B) goodbye,^(C) but Ruth clung to her.^(D)

¹⁴ The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God^(A) but considers them foolishness,^(B) and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

⁹ For the eyes^(A) of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish^(B) thing, and from now on you will be at war.^(C)”

¹³ “You have done a foolish thing,^(A)” Samuel said. “You have not kept^(B) the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time.^(C)

⁹ May the Lord grant that each of you will find rest^(A) in the home of another husband.”

Then she kissed^(B) them goodbye and they wept aloud^(C)
