¹² And he said, ‘Lift up your eyes and see, all the goats that mate with the flock are striped, spotted, and mottled, for ^(A)I have seen all that Laban is doing to you.

⁷ Then the Lord said, ^(A)“I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their ^(B)taskmasters. I know their sufferings,

^15 (A)You shall give him his wages on the same day, before the sun sets (for he is poor and counts on it), ^(B)lest he cry against you to the Lord, and you be guilty of sin.

^42 (A)If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the ^(B)Fear of Isaac, had not been on my side, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. ^(C)God saw my affliction and the labor of my hands and ^(D)rebuked you last night.”

⁹ Masters, do the same to them, ^(A)and stop your threatening, knowing that ^(B)he who is both their Master^[a] and yours is in heaven, and that ^(C)there is no partiality with him.

^34 (A)I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and ^(B)have heard their groaning, and ^(C)I have come down to deliver them. ^(D)And now come, I will send you to Egypt.’

The Vanity of Wealth and Honor

^8 (A)If you see in a province the oppression of the poor and the violation of justice and righteousness, ^(B)do not be amazed at the matter, ^(C)for the high official is watched by a higher, and there are yet higher ones over them.
