Jacob’s Agreement with Laban

²⁵ And it came to pass, when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said to Laban, ^(A)“Send me away, that I may go to ^(B)my own place and to my country.

⁵⁴ And he and the men who were with him ate and drank and stayed all night. Then they arose in the morning, and he said, ^(A)“Send me away to my master.”

⁵⁶ And he said to them, “Do not ^[a]hinder me, since the Lord has prospered my way; send me away so that I may go to my master.”

⁴ Then ^(A)he came out of the land of the Chaldeans and dwelt in Haran. And from there, when his father was ^(B)dead, He moved him to this land in which you now dwell. ⁵ And God gave him no inheritance in it, not even enough to set his foot on. But even when Abraham had no child, ^(C)He promised to give it to him for a possession, and to his descendants after him.

⁵⁵ And early in the morning Laban arose, and ^(A)kissed his sons and daughters and ^(B)blessed them. Then Laban departed and ^(C)returned to his place.

¹³ I am the God of Bethel, ^(A)where you anointed the pillar and where you made a vow to Me. Now ^(B)arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family.’ ”

¹⁵ Behold, ^(A)I am with you and will ^(B)keep^[a] you wherever you go, and will ^(C)bring you back to this land; for ^(D)I will not leave you ^(E)until I have done what I have spoken to you.”

^13 (A)And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: ^(B)“I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; ^(C)the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants.

^3 (A)Dwell in this land, and ^(B)I will be with you and ^(C)bless you; for to you and your descendants ^(D)I give all these lands, and I will perform ^(E)the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.
