¹⁷ And God heeded Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob a fifth son.

¹³ But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will name him John.^(A)

²⁶ And she said, “Oh, my lord! As you live, my lord, I am the woman who was standing here in your presence praying to the Lord.^{(A) 27} For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me the petition that I made to him.^(B)

²⁰ In due time Hannah conceived and bore a son. She named him Samuel, for she said, “I have asked him of the Lord.”^(A)

⁷ Then the Lord said, “I have observed the misery of my people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters. Indeed, I know their sufferings,^(A)

²² Then God remembered Rachel, and God heeded her and opened her womb.^(A)

⁶ Then Rachel said, “God has judged me and has also heard my voice and given me a son”; therefore she named him Dan.^[a](A)
