⁹ But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”

⁹ Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?”

²⁰ Then the Lord said, “How great is the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah and how very grave their sin!^{(A) 21} I must go down and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry that has come to me, and if not, I will know.”^(B)

¹⁷ He brought near the clans of Judah, and the clan of the Zerahites was taken, and he brought near the clan of the Zerahites by households,^[a] and Zabdi was taken.^{(A) 18} And he brought near his household one by one, and Achan son of Carmi son of Zabdi son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken. ¹⁹ Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, give glory to the Lord God of Israel and make confession to him. Tell me now what you have done; do not hide it from me.”^(B)

⁸ And he said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from and where are you going?” She said, “I am running away from my mistress Sarai.”

⁵ The Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which mortals had built.^(A)

¹² And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books.^{(A) 13} And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and all were judged according to what they had done.^(B)
