⁴ Jacob asked the shepherds, “My brothers, where are you from?”^(A)

“We’re from Harran,^(B)” they replied.

¹⁰ Jacob left Beersheba^(A) and set out for Harran.^(B)

⁴³ Now then, my son, do what I say:^(A) Flee at once to my brother Laban^(B) in Harran.^(C)

⁴ “So he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Harran. After the death of his father, God sent him to this land where you are now living.^(A)

² To this he replied: “Brothers and fathers,^(A) listen to me! The God of glory^(B) appeared to our father Abraham while he was still in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Harran.^(C)

¹⁰ Then the servant left, taking with him ten of his master’s camels^(A) loaded with all kinds of good things^(B) from his master. He set out for Aram Naharaim^[a](C) and made his way to the town of Nahor.^(D)

³¹ Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot^(A) son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law^(B) Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans^(C) to go to Canaan.^(D) But when they came to Harran,^(E) they settled there.
