³³ She conceived again and bore a son, and said, “Because the Lord has heard that I am hated, he has given me this son also.” And she called his name Simeon.^[a]

²⁵ On the third day, when they were sore, two of the sons of Jacob, ^(A)Simeon and Levi, ^(B)Dinah's brothers, took their swords and came against the city while it felt secure and killed all the males.

²⁴ Then he turned away from them and ^(A)wept. And he returned to them and spoke to them. And he took Simeon from them and bound him before their eyes.

²³ The sons of Leah: ^(A)Reuben (Jacob's firstborn), Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.

³⁰ Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, ^(A)“You have brought trouble on me ^(B)by making me stink to the inhabitants of the land, ^(C)the Canaanites and the Perizzites. ^(D)My numbers are few, and if they gather themselves against me and attack me, I shall be destroyed, both I and my household.”

²⁰ Then Leah said, “God has endowed me with a good endowment; now my husband will honor me, because I have borne him six sons.” So she called his name ^(A)Zebulun.^[a]

¹⁸ Leah said, “God has given me my wages because I gave my servant to my husband.” So she called his name Issachar.^[a]

⁸ Then Rachel said, “With mighty wrestlings^[a] I have wrestled with my sister and have prevailed.” So she called his name ^(A)Naphtali.^[b]
