^16 (A)“If a man seduces a virgin^[a] who is not betrothed and lies with her, he shall give the bride-price^[b] for her and make her his wife. ¹⁷ If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, ^(B)he shall pay money equal to the ^(C)bride-price for virgins.

¹² Ask me for as great a ^(A)bride-price^[a] and gift as you will, and I will give whatever you say to me. Only give me the young woman to be my wife.”

² So I bought her for fifteen shekels of silver and a ^(A)homer and a lethech^[a] of barley.

¹⁴ Then David sent messengers to Ish-bosheth, Saul's son, saying, “Give me my wife Michal, ^(A)for whom I paid the bridal price of a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.”

⁴¹ These twenty years I have been in your house. ^(A)I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flock, and ^(B)you have changed my wages ten times.

³⁰ So Jacob went in to Rachel also, and he loved Rachel more than Leah, and served Laban ^(A)for another seven years.

²⁰ So Jacob ^(A)served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.
