6 Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord,^[a] for this is the right thing to do.

¹³ But his mother replied, “Then let the curse fall on me, my son! Just do what I tell you. Go out and get the goats for me!”

²⁹ But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than any human authority.

¹⁹ But Peter and John replied, “Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him?

⁴³ So listen carefully, my son. Get ready and flee to my brother, Laban, in Haran.

²³ And the Lord told her, “The sons in your womb will become two nations. From the very beginning, the two nations will be rivals. One nation will be stronger than the other; and your older son will serve your younger son.”
