²⁰ In his days ^(A)Edom revolted against Judah’s authority, ^(B)and made a king over themselves. ²¹ So ^[a]Joram went to Zair, and all his chariots with him. Then he rose by night and attacked the Edomites who had surrounded him and the captains of the chariots; and the troops fled to their tents. ²² Thus Edom has been in revolt against Judah’s authority to this day. ^(C)And Libnah revolted at that time.

²³ And the Lord said to her:

¹⁰ Thus Edom has been in revolt against Judah’s authority to this day. At that time Libnah revolted against his rule, because he had forsaken the Lord God of his fathers.

¹⁴ He also put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and ^(A)all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went.

¹¹ Then Amaziah strengthened himself, and leading his people, he went to ^(A)the Valley of Salt and killed ten thousand of the people of Seir. ¹² Also the children of Judah took captive ten thousand alive, brought them to the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, so that they all were dashed in pieces.

^8 (A)In his days Edom revolted against Judah’s authority, and made a king over themselves.

¹⁷ For again the ^(A)Edomites had come, attacked Judah, and carried away captives.

¹¹ King David also dedicated these to the Lord, along with the silver and gold that he had brought from all these nations—from Edom, from Moab, from the ^(A)people of Ammon, from the ^(B)Philistines, and from ^(C)Amalek.

¹² Moreover ^(D)Abishai the son of Zeruiah killed ^(E)eighteen thousand ^[a]Edomites in the Valley of Salt. ^13 (F)He also put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went.
