³⁵ But he said, “Your brother came with deceit and has taken away your blessing.”

⁶ that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord ^(A)is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.

Cast Down but Unconquered

⁷ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, ^(A)that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

⁷ For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner? ⁸ And why not say, ^(A)“Let us do evil that good may come”?—as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say. Their ^[a]condemnation is just.

Treachery of Infidelity

¹⁹ Now therefore, call to me all the ^(A)prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests. Let no one be missing, for I have a great sacrifice for Baal. Whoever is missing shall not live.” But Jehu acted deceptively, with the intent of destroying the worshipers of Baal.

¹⁹ Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau your firstborn; I have done just as you told me; please arise, sit and eat of my game, ^(A)that your soul may bless me.”

²⁰ But Isaac said to his son, “How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?”

And he said, “Because the Lord your God brought it to me.”

²¹ Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come near, that I ^(B)may feel you, my son, whether you are really my son Esau or not.” ²² So Jacob went near to Isaac his father, and he felt him and said, “The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.” ²³ And he did not recognize him, because ^(C)his hands were hairy like his brother Esau’s hands; so he blessed him.
