^34 (A)When Esau was forty years old, he took as wives Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite.

^2 (A)Esau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah the daughter of Elon the ^(B)Hittite; ^(C)Aholibamah^[a] the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;

¹⁶ and you take of ^(A)his daughters for your sons, and his daughters ^(B)play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods.

¹³ These were the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These were the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife.

⁵ And ^[a]Aholibamah bore Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah. These were the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.

⁹ So Esau went to Ishmael and ^(A)took ^(B)Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, ^(C)the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife in addition to the wives he had.

³ and I will make you ^(A)swear^[a] by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that ^(B)you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell;

¹⁶ lest there be any ^(A)fornicator or ^[a]profane person like Esau, ^(B)who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.

² Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.
