¹⁹ But when Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and found there a well of spring water,

³⁸ and let the one who believes in me drink. As^[a] the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer’s heart^[b] shall flow rivers of living water.’ ”^(A)

¹⁰ Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”^{(A) 11} The woman said to him, “Sir,^[a] you have no bucket, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water?
