¹⁸ Isaac dug again the wells of water that had been dug in the days of his father Abraham, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham, and he gave them the names that his father had given them.^(A)

³¹ Therefore that place was called Beer-sheba,^[a] because there both of them swore an oath.^(A)

Idolatry Cut Off

² On that day, says the Lord of hosts, I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, so that they shall be remembered no more, and also I will remove from the land the prophets and the unclean spirit.^(A)

¹⁷ For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they shall be mentioned by name no more.^(A)

³⁸ Nebo, and Baal-meon (some names being changed), and Sibmah, and they gave names to the towns that they rebuilt.
