⁶ But to the sons of his concubines Abraham gave gifts, and while he was still living he ^(A)sent them away from his son Isaac, eastward ^(B)to the east country.

¹⁴ So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, along with the child, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered in the wilderness of ^(A)Beersheba.

³ For whenever the Israelites planted crops, the Midianites and ^(A)the Amalekites and ^(B)the people of the East would come up against them.

¹⁷ Yet ^(A)he did not leave himself without witness, for he ^(B)did good by ^(C)giving you rains from heaven and ^(D)fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with ^(E)food and ^(F)gladness.”

¹¹ What father among you, if his son asks for^[a] a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; ¹² or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? ¹³ If you then, ^(A)who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father ^(B)give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

^45 (A)so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and ^(B)sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

³ He possessed 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, and 500 female donkeys, and very many servants, so that this man was the greatest of all ^(A)the people of the east.
