²⁰ and Isaac was forty years old^(A) when he married Rebekah^(B) daughter of Bethuel^(C) the Aramean from Paddan Aram^[a](D) and sister of Laban^(E) the Aramean.^(F)

²⁹ Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban,^(A) and he hurried out to the man at the spring.

⁶⁷ Isaac brought her into the tent^(A) of his mother Sarah,^(B) and he married Rebekah.^(C) So she became his wife, and he loved her;^(D) and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.^(E)

²³ Bethuel became the father of Rebekah.^(A) Milkah bore these eight sons to Abraham’s brother Nahor.^(B)

⁵ Then you shall declare before the Lord your God: “My father was a wandering^(A) Aramean,^(B) and he went down into Egypt with a few people^(C) and lived there and became a great nation,^(D) powerful and numerous.

²⁴ Then God came to Laban the Aramean^(A) in a dream at night and said to him,^(B) “Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.”^(C)

²⁰ Moreover, Jacob deceived^(A) Laban the Aramean^(B) by not telling him he was running away.^(C)

¹⁸ and he drove all his livestock ahead of him, along with all the goods he had accumulated^(A) in Paddan Aram,^[a](B) to go to his father Isaac^(C) in the land of Canaan.^(D)

⁵ Then Isaac sent Jacob on his way,^(A) and he went to Paddan Aram,^(B) to Laban son of Bethuel the Aramean,^(C) the brother of Rebekah,^(D) who was the mother of Jacob and Esau.

⁶ Now Esau learned that Isaac had blessed Jacob and had sent him to Paddan Aram to take a wife from there, and that when he blessed him he commanded him, “Do not marry a Canaanite woman,”^(E)
