The Family of Keturah^(A)

³² Now ^(B)the sons born to Keturah, Abraham’s concubine, were Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. The sons of Jokshan were Sheba and Dedan. ³³ The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

²⁵ all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of ^(A)Elam, and all the kings of the ^(B)Medes;

Job’s Three Friends

¹¹ Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, each one came from his own place—Eliphaz the ^(A)Temanite, Bildad the ^(B)Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. For they had made an appointment together to come ^(C)and mourn with him, and to comfort him.

⁸ They killed the kings of Midian with the rest of those who were killed—^(A)Evi, Rekem, ^(B)Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. ^(C)Balaam the son of Beor they also killed with the sword.

^2 (A)“Take vengeance on the Midianites for the children of Israel. Afterward you shall ^(B)be gathered to your people.”

^17 (A)“Harass the Midianites, and ^[a]attack them; ¹⁸ for they harassed you with their ^(B)schemes^[b] by which they seduced you in the matter of Peor and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a leader of Midian, their sister, who was killed in the day of the plague because of Peor.”

⁴ So Moab said to ^(A)the elders of Midian, “Now this company will ^[a]lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.

Jethro’s Advice^(A)

18 And ^(B)Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses’ father-in-law, heard of all that ^(C)God had done for Moses and for Israel His people—that the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt. ² Then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, took ^(D)Zipporah, Moses’ wife, after he had sent her back, ³ with her ^(E)two sons, of whom the name of one was ^[a]Gershom (for he said, ^(F)“I have been a ^[b]stranger in a foreign land”) ⁴ and the name of the other was ^[c]Eliezer (for he said, “The God of my father was my ^(G)help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh”);
