¹⁸ His descendants^(A) settled in the area from Havilah to Shur,^(B) near the eastern border of Egypt, as you go toward Ashur. And they lived in hostility toward^[a] all the tribes related to them.^(C)

Abraham and Abimelek^(A)

20 Now Abraham moved on from there^(B) into the region of the Negev^(C) and lived between Kadesh^(D) and Shur.^(E) For a while^(F) he stayed in Gerar,^(G)

²³ In that day^(A) there will be a highway^(B) from Egypt to Assyria.^(C) The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship^(D) together. ²⁴ In that day^(E) Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria,^(F) a blessing^[a](G) on the earth.

²⁹ While Josiah was king, Pharaoh Necho^(A) king of Egypt went up to the Euphrates River to help the king of Assyria. King Josiah marched out to meet him in battle, but Necho faced him and killed him at Megiddo.^(B)

⁷ Then Saul attacked the Amalekites^(A) all the way from Havilah to Shur,^(B) near the eastern border of Egypt.

²¹ While he was living in the Desert of Paran,^(A) his mother got a wife for him^(B) from Egypt.
