⁶⁰ And they blessed Rebekah and said to her,

¹⁷ I will indeed bless you, and I will make your offspring as numerous as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of their enemies,^(A)

¹⁶ I will bless her and also give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she shall give rise to nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.”^(A)

¹¹ Then all the people who were at the gate, along with the elders, said, “We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who is coming into your house like Rachel and Leah, who together built up the house of Israel. May you produce children^[a] in Ephrathah and bestow a name in Bethlehem;^{(A) 12} and, through the children that the Lord will give you by this young woman, may your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah.”^(B)

³ May God Almighty^[a] bless you and make you fruitful and numerous, that you may become a company of peoples.^(A)

¹⁵ He blessed Joseph and said,

¹⁹ then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the gate of that place.

⁴⁶ You may keep them as a possession for your children after you, for them to inherit as property. These you may treat as slaves, but as for your fellow Israelites, no one shall rule over the other with harshness.^(A)

²⁰ So he blessed them that day, saying,

So he put Ephraim ahead of Manasseh.
