⁷ But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!”

And he said, “Here I am, my son.”

Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the ^[a]lamb for a burnt offering?”

¹⁵ For ^(A)you did not receive the spirit of bondage again ^(B)to fear, but you received the ^(C)Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ^(D)“Abba,^[a] Father.”

¹¹ So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink ^(A)the cup which My Father has given Me?”

⁴² Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, ^[a]if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.”

³⁹ He went a little farther and fell on His face, and ^(A)prayed, saying, ^(B)“O My Father, if it is possible, ^(C)let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, ^(D)not as I will, but as You will.”

³ Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the ^(A)tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.

God’s Covenant with Creation

²⁰ Then Noah built an ^(A)altar to the Lord, and took of ^(B)every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered ^(C)burnt offerings on the altar.

² Then she bore again, this time his brother ^[a]Abel. Now ^(A)Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. ³ And ^[b]in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit ^(B)of the ground to the Lord. ⁴ Abel also brought of ^(C)the firstborn of his flock and of ^(D)their fat. And the Lord ^(E)respected Abel and his offering,
