⁶ Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. And the two of them walked on together.^(A)

¹⁷ and carrying the cross by himself he went out to what is called the Place of the Skull, which in Hebrew^[a] is called Golgotha.^(A)

²⁴ He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross,^[a] so that, having died to sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds^[b] you have been healed.^(A)

¹⁷ This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah, “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.”^(A)

²⁶ Was it not necessary that the Messiah^[a] should suffer these things and then enter into his glory?”^{(A) 27} Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures.^(B)
