10 Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son.

21 (A)Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that (B)faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed (C)by his works; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, (D)“Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a (E)friend of God.

17 By faith (A)Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, 18 of whom it was said, (B)“Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” 19 (C)He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.

(A)All we like sheep have gone astray;
    we have turned—every one—to his own way;
(B)and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
    (C)yet he opened not his mouth;
(D)like a (E)lamb that is led to the slaughter,
    and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
    so he opened not his mouth.
By oppression and judgment he was taken away;
    and as for his generation, (F)who considered
that he was cut off out of the land of the living,
    stricken for the transgression of my people?
And they made his grave with the wicked
    (G)and with a rich man in his death,
although (H)he had done no violence,
    and there was no deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet (I)it was the will of the Lord to crush him;
    he has put him to grief;[a]
(J)when his soul makes[b] an offering for guilt,
    he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;
(K)the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
11 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see[c] and be satisfied;
by his knowledge shall (L)the righteous one, my servant,
    (M)make many to be accounted righteous,
    (N)and he shall bear their iniquities.
12 (O)Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many,[d]
    (P)and he shall divide the spoil with the strong,[e]
because he poured out his soul to death
    and was numbered with the transgressors;
(Q)yet he bore the sin of many,
    and makes intercession for the transgressors.
