⁴ Then Abraham ^(A)circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, ^(B)as God had commanded him.

^8 (A)Then He gave him the covenant of circumcision; ^(B)and so Abraham begot Isaac and circumcised him on the eighth day; ^(C)and Isaac begot Jacob, and ^(D)Jacob begot the twelve patriarchs.

^22 (A)Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, ^(B)but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. ²³ If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because ^(C)I made a man completely well on the Sabbath?

Circumcision of Jesus

^21 (A)And when eight days were completed ^[a]for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called ^(B)Jesus, the name given by the angel ^(C)before He was conceived in the womb.

Circumcision of John the Baptist

⁵⁹ So it was, ^(A)on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him by the name of his father, Zacharias.

⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

³² “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; ^(A)you shall not add to it nor take away from it.

³ And on the ^(A)eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

⁴⁸ And ^(A)when a stranger ^[a]dwells with you and wants to keep the Passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as a native of the land. For no uncircumcised person shall eat it.

¹⁰ This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: ^(A)Every male child among you shall be circumcised; ¹¹ and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be ^(B)a sign of the covenant between Me and you. ¹² He who is eight days old among you ^(C)shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not your descendant.
