³² When they had made a covenant at Beer-sheba, Abimelech, with Phicol the commander of his army, left and returned to the land of the Philistines.

13 The Israelites again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord gave them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.^(A)

²⁷ So Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them to Abimelech, and the two men made a covenant.^(A)

¹³ Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the oaks^[a] of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner; these were allies of Abram.^(A)
