⁹ Then Abimelek called Abraham in and said, “What have you done to us? How have I wronged you that you have brought such great guilt upon me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should never be done.^(A)”

¹⁸ So Pharaoh summoned Abram. “What have you done to me?”^(A) he said. “Why didn’t you tell me she was your wife?^(B)

⁹ No one is greater in this house than I am.^(A) My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”^(B)

¹⁰ Then Abimelek said, “What is this you have done to us?^(A) One of the men might well have slept with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us.”

⁴ Marriage should be honored by all,^(A) and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.^(B)

¹¹ They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households^(A) by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain.

¹¹ For God does not show favoritism.^(A)

¹² “No, my brother!” she said to him. “Don’t force me! Such a thing should not be done in Israel!^(A) Don’t do this wicked thing.^(B)

¹⁰ Now, therefore, the sword^(A) will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’

¹¹ “This is what the Lord says: ‘Out of your own household^(B) I am going to bring calamity on you.^(C) Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight.^(D)
