Abraham and Abimelech

20 And Abraham journeyed from ^(A)there to the South, and dwelt between ^(B)Kadesh and Shur, and ^(C)stayed in Gerar.

⁶ So Isaac dwelt in Gerar.

Isaac and Abimelech

26 There was a famine in the land, besides ^(A)the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to ^(B)Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar.

¹³ And Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to ^(A)Gerar. So the Ethiopians were overthrown, and they could not recover, for they were broken before the Lord and His army. And they carried away very much ^[a]spoil. ¹⁴ Then they defeated all the cities around Gerar, for ^(B)the fear of the Lord came upon them; and they plundered all the cities, for there was exceedingly much ^[b]spoil in them.

18 Then the Lord appeared to him by ^[a]the ^(B)terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day.

^7 (A)And Saul attacked the Amalekites, from ^(B)Havilah all the way to ^(C)Shur, which is east of Egypt.

⁵¹ because ^(A)you trespassed against Me among the children of Israel at the waters of ^[a]Meribah Kadesh, in the Wilderness of Zin, because you ^(B)did not hallow Me in the midst of the children of Israel.

Israel’s Refusal to Enter the Land^(A)

¹⁹ “So we departed from Horeb, ^(B)and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw on the way to the mountains of the Amorites, as the Lord our God had commanded us. Then ^(C)we came to Kadesh Barnea.
