Abraham and Abimelech

20 From there Abraham journeyed toward the territory of the Negeb and lived between ^(A)Kadesh and Shur; and he ^(B)sojourned in ^(C)Gerar.

Isaac and Abimelech

⁶ So Isaac settled in Gerar.

God's Promise to Isaac

26 Now there was a famine in the land, besides ^(A)the former famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Gerar to ^(B)Abimelech king of the ^(C)Philistines.

18 And the Lord appeared to him by the ^(A)oaks^[a] of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day.

¹⁴ Therefore the well was called ^(A)Beer-lahai-roi;^[a] it lies between ^(B)Kadesh and Bered.

⁷ The angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, the spring on the way to ^(A)Shur.

Sarai and Hagar

16 ^(A)Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children. She had a female Egyptian servant whose name was ^(B)Hagar.

¹³ Asa and the people who were with him pursued them as far as ^(A)Gerar, and the Ethiopians fell until none remained alive, for they were broken before the Lord and his army. The men of Judah^[a] carried away very much spoil. ¹⁴ And they attacked all the cities around ^(B)Gerar, ^(C)for the fear of the Lord was upon them. They plundered all the cities, for there was much plunder in them.

^7 (A)And Saul defeated the Amalekites from ^(B)Havilah as far as ^(C)Shur, which is east of Egypt.
