²³ And Adam said:

²⁸ So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. ²⁹ For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. ³⁰ For ^(A)we are members of His body, ^[a]of His flesh and of His bones.

⁸ For man is not from woman, but woman ^(A)from man. ⁹ Nor was man created for the woman, but woman ^(B)for the man.

David Reigns over All Israel^(A)

5 Then all the tribes of Israel ^(B)came to David at Hebron and spoke, saying, “Indeed ^(C)we are your bone and your flesh.

² “Please speak in the hearing of all the men of Shechem: ‘Which is better for you, that all ^(A)seventy of the sons of Jerubbaal reign over you, or that one reign over you?’ Remember that I am your own flesh and ^(B)bone.”

¹⁴ And Laban said to him, ^(A)“Surely you are my bone and my flesh.” And he stayed with him for a month.

^13 (A)And say to Amasa, ‘Are you not my bone and my flesh? ^(B)God do so to me, and more also, if you are not commander of the army before me ^[a]continually in place of Joab.’ ”
