¹⁸ The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”^(A)

⁷ Husbands,^(A) in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

⁷ A man ought not to cover his head,^[a] since he is the image^(A) and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. ⁸ For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;^{(B) 9} neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.^{(C) 10} It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own^[b] head, because of the angels. ¹¹ Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. ¹² For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.^(D)

¹¹ A woman^[a] should learn in quietness and full submission.^{(A) 12} I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;^[b] she must be quiet.^{(B) 13} For Adam was formed first, then Eve.^(C)

³⁶ If anyone is worried that he might not be acting honorably toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if his passions are too strong^[a] and he feels he ought to marry, he should do as he wants. He is not sinning.^(A) They should get married.

3 One day Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi^(A) said to her, “My daughter, I must find a home^[a](B) for you, where you will be well provided for.
