¹⁷ but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not ^[a]eat, for on the day that you eat from it ^(A)you will certainly die.”

²⁴ So ^(A)He drove the man out; and at the ^(B)east of the Garden of Eden He stationed the ^(C)cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to ^(D)the tree of life.

²² But Jesus *said to him, “^(A)Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”

Message to Sardis

3 “To the angel of the church in ^(A)Sardis write:

He who has ^[a](B)the seven spirits of God and ^(C)the seven stars, says this: ‘^(D)I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, and yet you are ^(E)dead.

⁵ even when we were ^(A)dead ^[a]in our wrongdoings, made us alive together ^[b]with Christ (^(B)by grace you have been saved), ⁶ and ^(C)raised us up with Him, and ^(D)seated us with Him in ^(E)the heavenly places in ^(F)Christ Jesus,

Two Resurrections

²⁵ Truly, truly, I say to you, ^[a](A)a time is coming and ^[b]even now has arrived, when ^(B)the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who ^(C)hear will live.

¹⁴ For this reason ^[a]it says,

⁵ and as ^[a]the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why are you seeking the living One among the dead?
