²² Escape there quickly, for I can do nothing till you arrive there.” Therefore the name of the city was called ^(A)Zoar.^[a]

¹⁰ And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the ^(A)Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like ^(B)the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of ^(C)Zoar. (This was before the Lord ^(D)destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)

² these kings made war with ^(A)Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of ^(B)Admah, Shemeber king of ^(C)Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).

^14 (A)Let me alone, that I may destroy them and ^(B)blot out their name from under heaven. And ^(C)I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.’

¹⁰ Now therefore ^(A)let me alone, that ^(B)my wrath may burn hot against them and ^(C)I may consume them, in order that ^(D)I may make a great nation of you.”

²⁵ When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob's hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him. ²⁶ Then he said, “Let me go, for the day has broken.” But Jacob said, ^(A)“I will not let you go unless you bless me.” ²⁷ And he said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.” ²⁸ Then he said, ^(B)“Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel,^[a] for ^(C)you have striven with God and ^(D)with men, and have prevailed.”

^2 (A)in hope of eternal life, which God, ^(B)who never lies, ^(C)promised ^(D)before the ages began^[a]

for ^(C)he cannot deny himself.

⁵ And ^(A)he could do no mighty work there, except that ^(B)he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them.
