²³ Then Abraham drew near and said, ^(A)“Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

²² And they ^(A)fell on their faces and said, “O God, ^(B)the God of the spirits of all flesh, ^(C)shall one man sin, and will you be angry with all the congregation?”

¹⁷ Then David spoke to the Lord when he saw the angel who was striking the people, and said, “Behold, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand be against me and against my father's house.”

⁴ Now Abimelech had not approached her. So he said, ^(A)“Lord, will you kill an innocent people?

¹⁷ Elijah was a man ^(A)with a nature like ours, and ^(B)he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for ^(C)three years and six months it did not rain on the earth.

⁵ But if our unrighteousness serves to show the righteousness of God, what shall we say? That God is unrighteous to inflict ^(A)wrath on us? (^(B)I speak in a human way.) ⁶ By no means! For then how could ^(C)God judge the world?

²⁵ Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteous to death with the wicked, ^(A)so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! ^(B)Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?”
