¹⁶ And I will bless her ^(A)and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother ^(B)of nations; ^(C)kings of peoples shall be from her.”

¹¹ Also God said to him: ^(A)“I am God Almighty. ^(B)Be fruitful and multiply; ^(C)a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body.

⁶ I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make ^(A)nations of you, and ^(B)kings shall come from you.

⁶ as Sarah obeyed Abraham, ^(A)calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.

²⁶ but the ^(A)Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. ²⁷ For it is written:

²⁸ Now ^(C)we, brethren, as Isaac was, are ^(D)children of promise. ²⁹ But, as ^(E)he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, ^(F)even so it is now. ³⁰ Nevertheless what does ^(G)the Scripture say? ^(H)“Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for ^(I)the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.” ³¹ So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.

⁹ For this is the word of promise: ^(A)“At this time I will come and Sarah shall have a son.”

⁶⁰ And they blessed Rebekah and said to her:

¹⁰ And He said, “I will certainly return to you ^(A)according to the time of life, and behold, ^(B)Sarah your wife shall have a son.”

(Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.) ¹¹ Now ^(C)Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and ^[a]Sarah ^(D)had passed the age of childbearing. ¹² Therefore Sarah ^(E)laughed within herself, saying, ^(F)“After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my ^(G)lord being old also?”

¹³ And the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?’ ^14 (H)Is anything too hard for the Lord? ^(I)At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”
