^28 (B)When He had come to the other side, to the country of the ^[a]Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way.

7 “When the Lord your God brings you into the land which you go to ^(B)possess, and has cast out many ^(C)nations before you, ^(D)the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you,

^11 (A)Observe what I command you this day. Behold, ^(B)I am driving out from before you the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite.

^2 (A)And I will send My Angel before you, ^(B)and I will drive out the Canaanite and the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite.

^23 (A)For My Angel will go before you and ^(B)bring you in to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites and the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will ^[a]cut them off. ²⁴ You shall not ^(C)bow down to their gods, nor serve them, ^(D)nor do according to their works; ^(E)but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars.

²⁵ “So you shall ^(F)serve the Lord your God, and ^(G)He will bless your bread and your water. And ^(H)I will take sickness away from the midst of you. ^26 (I)No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will ^(J)fulfill the number of your days.

²⁷ “I will send ^(K)My fear before you, I will ^(L)cause confusion among all the people to whom you come, and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. ²⁸ And ^(M)I will send hornets before you, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before you.

¹⁵ Canaan begot Sidon his firstborn, and ^(A)Heth; ^16 (B)the Jebusite, the Amorite, and the Girgashite; ¹⁷ the Hivite, the Arkite, and the Sinite; ¹⁸ the Arvadite, the Zemarite, and the Hamathite. Afterward the families of the Canaanites were dispersed. ^19 (C)And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon as you go toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; then as you go toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.
