¹⁷ And it came to pass, when the sun went down and it was dark, that behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a burning torch that ^(A)passed between those pieces.

¹⁸ And I will give the men who have transgressed My covenant, who have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before Me, when ^(A)they cut the calf in two and passed between the parts of it— ¹⁹ the princes of Judah, the princes of Jerusalem, the ^[a]eunuchs, the priests, and all the people of the land who passed between the parts of the calf—

²¹ Then the Angel of the Lord put out the end of the staff that was in His hand, and touched the meat and the unleavened bread; and ^(A)fire rose out of the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. And the Angel of the Lord departed out of his sight.

⁴ which I commanded your fathers in the day I brought them out of the land of Egypt, ^(A)from the iron furnace, saying, ^(B)‘Obey My voice, and do according to all that I command you; so shall you be My people, and I will be your God,’

²⁶ And David built there an altar to the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on the Lord; and ^(A)He answered him from heaven by fire on the altar of burnt offering.

²⁰ But the Lord has taken you and ^(A)brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be ^(B)His people, an inheritance, as you are this day.

² And ^(A)the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. ³ Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this ^(B)great sight, why the bush does not burn.”

Assurance of Zion’s Salvation

²⁰ it happened as the flame went up toward heaven from the altar—the Angel of the Lord ascended in the flame of the altar! When Manoah and his wife saw this, they ^(A)fell on their faces to the ground.
