¹⁶ And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”^(A)

²⁶ He acted most abominably in going after idols, as the Amorites had done, whom the Lord had driven out before the Israelites.)^(A)

³² Fill up, then, the measure of your ancestors. ³³ You snakes, you brood of vipers! How can you escape the judgment of hell?^{[a] 34} For this reason I send you prophets, sages, and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town, ³⁵ so that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.

⁴⁰ The time that the Israelites had lived in Egypt was four hundred thirty years.^(A)

¹⁶ by hindering us from speaking to the gentiles so that they may be saved. Thus they have constantly been filling up the measure of their sins, but wrath^[a] has overtaken them at last.^[b](A)

⁸ But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day.^{(A) 9} The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you,^[a] not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.^(B)

Seventh Vision: The Woman in a Basket

⁵ Then the angel who spoke with me came forward and said to me, “Look up and see what this is that is coming out.” ⁶ I said, “What is it?” He said, “This is a basket^[a] coming out.” And he said, “This is their iniquity^[b] in the whole land.” ⁷ Then a leaden cover was lifted, and there was a woman sitting in the basket!^{[c] 8} And he said, “This is Wickedness.” So he thrust her back into the basket^[d] and pressed the leaden weight down on its mouth.^{(A) 9} Then I looked up and saw two women coming forward. The wind was in their wings; they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket^[e] between earth and sky. ¹⁰ Then I said to the angel who spoke with me, “Where are they taking the basket?”^{[f] 11} He said to me, “To the land of Shinar, to build a house for it, and when this is prepared, they will set it down there on its base.”^(B)
