²⁴ I will take nothing but what the young men have eaten and the share of the men who went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. Let them take their share.”

The Golden Rule

¹² “In everything do to others as you would have them do to you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.^(A)

¹⁸ for the scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain” and “The laborer deserves to be paid.”^(A)

¹⁴ In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel.^(A)

¹⁵ But I have made no use of any of these rights, nor am I writing this so that they may be applied in my case. Indeed, I would rather die than that—no one will deprive me of my ground for boasting!

⁷ Pay to all what is due them: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.

Love for One Another

⁸ Owe no one anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.^(A)

¹³ Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the oaks^[a] of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner; these were allies of Abram.^(A)
