And he ^(B)gave him ^[a]a tithe of all.

²² And this stone which I have set as a pillar ^(A)shall be God’s house, ^(B)and of all that You give me I will surely give a ^[a]tenth to You.”

⁴ Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of the ^[a]spoils. ⁵ And indeed ^(A)those who are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren, though they have come from the loins of Abraham; ⁶ but he whose genealogy is not derived from them received tithes from Abraham ^(B)and blessed ^(C)him who had the promises. ⁷ Now beyond all contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better. ⁸ Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, ^(D)of whom it is witnessed that he lives. ⁹ Even Levi, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, so to speak,

¹² I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’

²⁷ And he said, ^(A)“Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken ^(B)His mercy and His truth toward my master. As for me, being on the way, the Lord ^(C)led me to the house of my master’s brethren.”

Redemption in Christ

^3 (A)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

¹⁶ that ^(A)I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the ^(B)offering ^[a]of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
