^9 (A)Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right, or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left.”

Suffering for Righteousness' Sake

⁸ Finally, all of you, ^(A)have unity of mind, sympathy, ^(B)brotherly love, ^(C)a tender heart, and ^(D)a humble mind. ^9 (E)Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, ^(F)bless, for ^(G)to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. ¹⁰ For

^14 (A)Strive for peace with everyone, and for the ^(B)holiness ^(C)without which no one will see the Lord.

¹⁰ You shall dwell with us, and ^(A)the land shall be open to you. Dwell and ^(B)trade in it, and ^(C)get property in it.”

¹⁵ And Abimelech said, “Behold, ^(A)my land is before you; dwell where it pleases you.”

⁷ To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. ^(A)Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded?

¹⁸ If possible, so far as it depends on you, ^(A)live peaceably with all.

Wisdom from Above

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? ^(A)By his good conduct let him show his works ^(B)in the meekness of wisdom. ¹⁴ But if you have bitter ^(C)jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. ¹⁵ This is not ^(D)the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, ^(E)demonic. ¹⁶ For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. ¹⁷ But ^(F)the wisdom from above is first pure, then ^(G)peaceable, gentle, open to reason, ^(H)full of mercy and good fruits, ^(I)impartial and ^(J)sincere. ¹⁸ And ^(K)a harvest of righteousness ^(L)is sown in peace by those who make peace.
