¹⁶ And ^(A)I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered.

¹⁴ Also your ^(A)descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad ^(B)to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and ^(C)in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

¹² For ^(A)You said, ‘I will surely treat you well, and make your descendants as the ^(B)sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.’ ”

¹⁶ Therefore it is of faith that it might be ^(A)according to grace, ^(B)so that the promise might be ^[a]sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, ^(C)who is the father of us all ¹⁷ (as it is written, ^(D)“I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, ^(E)who gives life to the dead and calls those ^(F)things which do not exist as though they did; ¹⁸ who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, ^(G)“So shall your descendants be.”

⁸ And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You ^(A)have chosen, a great people, ^(B)too numerous to be numbered or counted.

¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants, to whom You ^(A)swore by Your own self, and said to them, ^(B)‘I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven; and all this land that I have spoken of I give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’ ”

¹⁷ blessing I will ^(A)bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants ^(B)as the stars of the heaven ^(C)and as the sand which is on the seashore; and ^(D)your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.

⁵ Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and ^(A)count the ^(B)stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, ^(C)“So shall your ^(D)descendants be.”
